figuring Out Buyer Behavior - Assignment 12

  • Segment:
    • The segment that I chose to focus on for this assignment was the busy working people. I chose this segment because in the Interviews I did I noticed that they were the ones most excited about the idea and are the people that would spend more on this service.

  • Interviews: I started all the interviews with the same question"what are your thoughts about errands" and then asked other questions depending on individual answers.

    • Joseph: Joseph runs his own company and is a single father. His wife passed many years ago but she was the one that would do all the errands for him. He has a hard time keeping up with his two jobs, running the business and being a father, so errand running is difficult to do. He says that he would pay more than what he pays for food and grocery deliveries as long as he can get everything done in one order. By having a service to run errands for him he would have a weight lifted off his shoulder and instead of running errands he could spend more time after work and on weekends with his kids.

    • Lydia: Lydia is a financial consultant and is constantly going from one meeting to another. She spends a lot of her day in meetings and working on projects with different companies. She spends most of her day driving to meetings and consulting with different clients. By the end of her work-day she is too exhausted to do anything else. Errands are like a mosquito that doesn't leave you alone until you deal with them. Errands are so time consuming and I usually have to invest a big chunk of my weekend to running errands. I wish I could have someone run them for me. She said that she would definitely be a number on costumer if this new service does come to life.

    • Miguel: Miguel graduated from college last year and started his new job. He is always very busy working late on his projects and his team. He recently moved out of his parent's house so he has more errands to run for himself now. He says that errands are the worst part of his day as he has to spend so much time running them instead of doing something he enjoys.

  • Findings:
    • Soon after the interviews started the people interview all suggested that errands are such a burden on top of their busy work schedules. Towards the end of the interview, I introduced them to my idea for the new service. All three of them said that the service would definitely be a "life and time saver". The awareness seems to grow as the amount of errands that a person needs done increases.  The awareness of the issue would be diminished by the availability of my service and decrease the reliance on more than one delivery service for select errands.
