Idea Napkin No. 1 - Assignment 11

  • YOU
    • I am a student at the University of Florida pursuing a degree in Business Administration. I have had several internships to help me narrow down what I want to do in my professional career. In my last internship I was given the change to work on a project where I was able to identify products that were not worth producing any further, products that could be developed further and "star" products. With this project I was able to identify problems and solutions for the company. It gave me the opportunity to look at the facts and use them to improve some aspect for the business.  I am really good at identifying problems and finding ways to solve them. I am also really good at working with teams and on my own. Eventually I would like to be CEO of a company or starting and running my own company. If I would pursue this idea I see myself running the company and leading a great team. 
  • WHAT ARE YOU OFFERING TO YOUR COSTUMERS?
    • Currently many people use third party delivery platforms like DoorDash, UberEats, Postmates, etc. but it is only catered for food delivery. This new service is catered to run any errand. The service would cater to any delivery need, not just food delivery. 
       
      For example:
      A woman that has an important presentation to prepare for at work and a huge list of errands to run but not enough time to do both. 

      Her errand list:
      • Go to the groceries
      • Buy mom a birthday present
      • Pick up dry cleaning
      • Pick up prescriptions
      • deliver birthday invites
This woman seems like she could use a little help. This is where our company would be the perfect solution
  • WHO ARE YOU OFFERING IT TO?
    • The costumers would be people that are too busy to run errands themselves, or don't want to run their errands. 

  • WHY DO THEY CARE?
    • Costumers would pay for their service because they would be able to lighten the stress of lacking time to run errands. The service would offer them an easy way to have their errands run without spending hours of their day to do them. The price would have a base fee and additional fees depending on the errands that the person wants. Costumers would be given a fair price and they would also be able to accumulate points to get rewards later on. 

  • WHAT ARE YOUR CORE COMPETENCIES?
    • I consider my best competency is that I am very perseverant, when I set a task I find a way to accomplish it. If I encounter I problem I seek out solutions and also ask for help from others. I also am very open minded a like to work with others as sometimes solutions are better when others offer a different perspective. 
All of these factors tie in well together. I believe that if all of these elements came to play in the development of this new company, it would be a success. I believe that I would be able to run the company, build a great team to make a successful business. The company would be centered on how to make life easier for our costumers. The only possible weakness could be my lack of experience with developing applications, I would need to have someone on the team that could do that.

    Hey Maria,
    I agree that these factors fit well together, your past experiences and competencies would make you a great leader for this business idea. I think you highlight well why your customer would demand your product and how there's nothing like this on the market at the moment. I like how you said there would be a way to accumulate points, I think this is unique and can be a good strategy to get customers to use the services.

    Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy reading your posts and think you make great conclusions. Your analysis of all the information that you have gathered about yourself makes it seem like you have a great connection to you service. I like the way you went about telling us who you are and I think that gave me such great insight to understanding more about you and why you came up with this service.

    Hey Maria, I this is a great opportunity and I believe it would strive due to the need of many working people, especially parents. This would be great for the elderly as well, as you stated, it would cater to anyone who is in need of someone to get anything and is not comfortable(due to the pandemic) or does not have time.
    I honestly really like this idea, thanks for sharing!

    Hi Maria,
    I thought you did a great job explaining your business concept and the problem hat it is solving. Your explanation for why your customers care about your service was thorough as well. But I wish you went into a little more detail about who your ideal customers would be, possibly an age range, business professionals, parents, etc. Also, your past internship sounds interesting and I can see how that would motivate you to want to run your own business. Well done!

  Opportunity: Being a full-time student, growing up with working parents and being surrounded by busy people made me realized that there is an opportunity to help busy people out. Running errands is an essential part of people's lives but it is also an activity that takes up a lot of time. Many people also find errand running tedious and stressful. The opportunity lies with people that have busy schedules, cannot run errands themselves or dislike running errands. Interviews Joseph: In his interview, Joseph said that he believed that the service would be a good idea but he would not use it personally or in the office.
