My Entrepreneurship Story-Assignment 3

My entrepreneurship story started at the dinner table. From a young age my family and I would talk about ideas we had about what business or product we would like to start or create some day. When I was in like third grade, I remember telling my parents I wanted to have a candy shop someday and they told me that if I worked hard I could. When I went to a birthday party a few days later I collected a bunch of candies from the piñata and decided that I would sell them in the neighborhood. The next day when I came back from school, I made a poster that said "candy, 25 cents each" I put all the candy I collected into a jar and loaded it up in my wagon. I took my wagon and tried to sell to the people in the neighborhood. My biggest costumers, of course, were the kids playing at the neighborhood playground.

My piñata days were limited so my candy business did not live forever but it was the beginning of my entrepreneurship ideas. The dinner table talks about what business we dream of having is still a common topic at my family's dinner table. I am now a Business Major at UF.

I took the entrepreneurship course because I needed an elective. When I was looking at my major elective options I chose entrepreneurship because it thought it would be a course that would develop a greater sense of entrepreneurship and interact with other students about different ideas. What I would like to get out of this course is to be able to come up with more ideas and develop them with ease.

  1. Hey Maria, I really enjoyed reading about your entrepreneurial story. When we are little, the world seems so easy to work with, and as we grow we face the real obstacles in life and businesses. That idea you had when you were little can still prosper and grow into a bigger business today with hard work and willingness. Do not give up on it if your passionate about it.
